First question: Would you wash your car’s interior with Softscrub, bleach, or mildew remover? Hopefully it doesn’t get covered with fish guts, squid guts, or pelican and heron poop (you know where I’m going with this). The guy down the street does upholstery and he’s cheap. So here are the next questions: What does he use for the backboards? What kind of staples, what kind of thread, what kind of vinyl or canvas, what density of foam, what kind of grommets, etc? You need a REAL marine upholstery shop. These are very important things. Unless you love re-doing your boat every year, have it done right the first time. And, just like everything else the process or method can be key too. We have many canvas tops on many t-tops that are 5 years old and are still tight. They don’t have corroded grommets because we only use stainless. The grommets aren’t pulling out because of the way its sewn and their placement. You will get a better, longer lasting product from the same principles of all of our work. Experience, knowledge, and pride.
